June 7th 2010

June is Family Month
So we have had many events on the calendar!

3 Churches got together for a church Pic-Nic and service at a Park.

Last week there was a national holiday so we rented a bus and joined 500 others at Word of Life to celebrate. There was a barbeque, soccer tournament, pool, and great preaching of the gospel where about 25 people accepted Christ as their Savior.

Today, until Saturday, every night we will have a seminar on “God’s Design for the Family”.
Bible Institute Students
Our good friends and co-workers from Miratejo were approved by the board of deacons to be sent by the church to go Study the Word of God at WOLBI in Argentina!

Both of these couples feel that the Lord has called them to full time ministry and have shown their desire to prepare themselves to serve. It will be great for the churches here in Portugal to have young couples like theses prepared to teach God´s Word.
School Starts in March, so from then until now they will be working and waiting for the funds needed to study.

Tiago & Sara Capote: Tiago is head of the music and is the youth Sunday school teacher, Sara is the organizer of the women’s ministries
Jairo & Lina both work alongside us with the youth ministries. Jairo is also the adult Sunday school teacher.

Happy Birthday Mario!

May 25th Mario turned 28, it was fun to be able to spend time with his mom and two sisters. His mom and sister Carla had never gone bowling so it was really fun to see them learn and trough the balls down the lane. :D

Please Pray
• For Mario’s father, especially for his salvation, we have been over to visit several times this last month and have not found him so well.
• For Wisdom as we make decisions and counsel others.
• For Dependence and Faithfulness to our Lord.
• Pray for Rui a teen who accepted Christ as his Savior with Mario and is coming to youth group.
• For Tatiana, Sara, Rafael, Thulio, Beatriz and other teens who we have started discipleship.
• For our car to be fixed soon.

May 2010

We made it back! After a long drive and two flights we made it back to Portugal. We arrived in the morning and that evening we moved the rest of our things into the apartment Pastor Evandro and his wife have lent to us until November. It is a beautiful house that the Lord has given us.

The young people in the churches are doing well, growing, this weekend we are taking them to a youth and leaders conference. Please pray that theses young people will grow to love and serve their Heavenly Father.

This Saturday it was a very rainy day, we were on the road going to the church for the youth group when we slid and had a accident that really damaged our car. We are both are just fine, but the car has a lot of work to be done on it. Please pray for provision to get that done so that we will be able to travel back and forth freely.
Thank you for partnering with us, let us together Praise the Lord for his goodness.

Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits.

April, 2010

Hello from the Pina family!
At the end of March we flew from Portugal to Portland, Oregon and spent a few days with family and friends preparing for our wedding. On April 3rd we had a wonderful wedding surrounded by people we love. They came from Wyoming, Missouri, California, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey and other places to celebrate with us.
Many people from the church helped with decorating and setting everything up for the ceremony. God also provided a couple to take the pictures during the wedding and another good friend provided the food. A couple of men from the church were able to set up a camera and computer so that Mario’s family and friends in Portugal were able to watch the wedding online.
God truly has been good to us during this last month.
After getting married we got to spend a few days in Portland, and then traveled down to California. We have had a great time together seeing the sights and visiting many friends and some of my family so that Mario could meet and get to know them.
On our trip our two backpacks and laptop computers were stolen out of the back of our friend’s car, and only a few days later, praise the Lord, He provided us with a new computer.
We are now in Wyoming having a great time visiting my family for a few more days before we head back to Portugal May 4th.
Please pray for us as we go back. We need to finish moving our stuff into the house we will be staying in. The pastor of the church is on furlough in the US and has asked us to stay in his home until he comes back in November.
Also pray as there are many activities this summer: camp for the kids and teens at church in July and August, Vacation Bible School in September. We will also be getting ready to receive a mission team from Wyoming in October.
There are a couple of new projects that we are developing. One is an inter-church youth soccer league, and another is helping the youth at the church with their school work. For this we are thinking of an afterschool tutoring program.
Thank you so much for your prayers and support during these last few months of transition.
This last week we have been doing our devotional in Acts and can see the new believers scattered to the different cities around them, and God using them to take the gospel to the people even with the difficult circumstances that they encountered.
We don’t know what your current situation is but, thank you for being a part of taking God’s Word to Portugal.
